Whether a monstrous tale straight from Skid Row, a legendary Rock ‘n’ Roll jam session, spelling bee drama, or a story of love and laughter among old friends, the 62nd consecutive season of Tibbits Summer Theatre offers audiences a fun-filled mainstage season featuring three distinct musicals and a world-premiere play, along with the popular Popcorn Theatre.

“I think we’ve crafted a season that is fun, energetic, full of great storytelling and music, not to mention a slew of eclectic and endearing characters,” said Summer Theatre Artistic Director Brian Sage, who is marking his first season in the role.

“One of the common themes that is woven throughout this season is: success. What does it mean to be successful? What actions do we take to achieve that success and what effect do those actions and outcomes have on our careers, relationships, and lives? Each production explores this in its own unique way: oftentimes hilarious, frequently heartfelt, and always, no matter how extreme the circumstances or larger than life the characters, rooted in our own universal humanity,” Sage added. “I’m excited to fill the theatre with laughs, fantastic music, honest storytelling, and most importantly YOU.”

Tibbits 2025 professional season begins with a musical selection, “Million Dollar Quartet," before the world premiere performance of "Act Three," then closing with two more musicals, "Little Shop of Horrors," and "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." The summer theatre lineup features a professional company of actors, designers and technicians from across the country, and offers at least six performances of each show, with both matinee and evening performances available. Additionally, Tibbits Popcorn Theatre returns with five family-friendly shows Friday and Saturday mornings beginning June 7 and running through August 2.

“Million Dollar Quartet” opens the mainstage season, with book by Floyd & Colin Escott, and runs June 13 - June 21. When Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins come together on December 4, 1956 at Sun Studio in Memphis. These four music legends embark upon an unforgettable jam session, and a night filled with electrifying performances and timeless rock and roll classics that defined an era. With a sensational set list featuring hits like “Blue Suede Shoes” and “I Walk the Line,” this Tony Award-nominated show invites audiences to celebrate the legacy of the music that changed the world. (Rated PG-13)

Next up, we're proud to have a World Premiere of "Act Three," a play written by longtime Tibbits actor and director Brenda Sparks. "Act Three" follows three acting legends who have done it all, are approaching the twilight of their career, and are returning to the stage where it all began with their hilarious new act. But amidst the laughter, cracks are beginning to show in their friendship. Will their past bring them together or tear them apart once and for all? An examination of aging, friendship, and the unexpected twists of returning home, "Act Three" runs June 27 through July 5.

The summer season moves on with "Little Shop of Horrors," with book and lyrics by Howard Ashman, and music by Alan Menken, running July 11 - 19. This cult classic musical centers around hard-luck floral assistant Seymour Krelborn, whose life changes dramatically when he discovers a peculiar little plant he names "Audrey II." With a doo-wop score that'll have audiences humming and a plot that spirals into outrageous hilarity, this Drama Desk Award-winning musical proves that mixing ambition with a plant that sings and eats people produces a show that’s absolutely to die for! (Rated PG-13)

The final musical of the season, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," with book by Rachel Sheinkin and music and lyrics by William Finn, runs July 25 - August 2. This Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning musical follows six quirky tweens, all determined to win the Putnam County Spelling Bee champion title, as they tackle a series of ultra-challenging words and reveal hilariously awkward stories from their home lives. One speller will walk away with the trophy and bragging rights, while the others face the soul-crushing humiliation of a "ding," after an incorrect spelling, and the consolation prize of a juice box. (Rated PG-13)
